What are LOLER examinations?

  • A LOLER thorough examination is a systematic and detailed inspection of your elevator and its safety-critical components. Conducted at prescribed intervals, these examinations are carried out by a competent person and are designed to:

  • Identify defects that could pose a risk to safety.

  • Provide a comprehensive report outlining any issues and recommendations for action.

  • Ensure compliance with LOLER and associated regulations.

What We Offer

Our LOLER examination services include

  • Our inspections cover all critical components, including safety devices, hoist mechanisms, ropes, pulleys, and control systems, ensuring your elevator operates safely.

  • Where required, we perform static and dynamic load testing, and use advanced non-destructive testing (NDT) to detect hidden defects without damaging equipment.

  • All findings are documented in a detailed report, including examination dates, next due inspections, and any immediate risks. A full compliance certificate is provided, meeting all LOLER reporting requirements.

When are LOLER Examinations required?

  • Thorough examinations must be conducted at specific points during the lifetime of the equipment, including:

  • Before First Use:
Equipment should be examined unless it has a valid Declaration of Conformity issued within the past year and has not been assembled on-site.

  • Following Assembly or Installation:
For equipment that requires assembly (e.g., platform lifts or tower cranes), examinations verify proper setup and functionality.

  • At Regular Intervals:

  • Every 6 months: For elevators and accessories used to lift people or for lifting accessories alone.

  • Every 12 months: For all other lifting equipment unless otherwise specified in an examination scheme.

  • After Exceptional Circumstances:
Following incidents such as damage, modifications, or prolonged periods of inactivity that could affect safety.
